Pastor Michael R. Ross Sr. is a native of the historic civil-rights city of Montgomery, Alabama.  He is a product of Christian education.  He graduated from Bethany Junior Academy in Montgomery, Alabama.  At the age of 12, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in 1970 at the Bethany Seventh-day Adventist Church by Elder Murray E. Joiner, Sr.  He graduated from Houston Hills Junior High School in 1973 and Jefferson Davis High School in 1976.  In 1982, he graduated from Oakwood University with a B. A. Degree in Theology and a Minor in Biblical Languages.  In 1983, he began his pastoral ministry in the South Central Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.  In 1986, God blessed him to organize the First Union Springs Church in Union Springs, Alabama.  In 1988, he received his Masters of Divinity from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan.  

In 1989, he married the former Judy Norford of Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.  She has served as a teacher at the Ephesus SDA Church in Birmingham, Alabama, Principal of Emmanuel Junior Academy in Mobile, Alabama, and presently a teacher at Oakwood Adventist Academy in Huntsville, Alabama.  They have two sons, Michael, a graduate from Oakwood University, and Matthew, a Junior at Oakwood University.

Pastor Ross has served in the gospel ministry spanning 32 years in the South Central Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.  He has served in the states of Tennessee and Alabama.  He is the former senior pastor of the Franklin, Tennessee, Selma, Alabama, Hillsview-Birmingham, Alabama, Emmanuel-Mobile, Alabama Districts.  Presently, he is the senior pastor of the New Life-Huntsville, Alabama Districts.  He was ordained at South Central Conference Campmeeting in 1993.

He has served on the South Central Conference Executive Committee (2001-2006 and 2010-2016).  Also, he has served on SCC Education Board (1995-2000, 2006-2011).

God has blessed him to receive numerous awards for evangelism, church building projects, community service, Sabbath School and youth ministry.  The highlight of his ministry is when he was called to serve as an evangelist in Nairobi, Kenya in Africa.  Over 50 souls were baptized on the University of East Africa, Baraton. 

In his spare time, he loves meeting people and watching his favorite sport teams, which are the Alabama Crimson Tide, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Cowboys.

Pastor Ross loves the Lord and his family.  He is committed to building up the Kingdom of God!  He will be the first to tell you that only through God’s grace and mercy has he been given the privilege of seeing and experiencing the power of God in action.
